I have windows XP professional.
How do I uninstall TCP/IP then reinstall it?
I don't want to disable it.
I want to uninstall it completly.
Then reinstall it.

A few days ago I had some computer troubles.
If I had been able to reinstall TCP/IP it would have solved my problem. But I couldn't figure out how. So I had to reinstall windows.

Thanks for your help!

David

go to add remove programs, then select install windows components. Click on networking services,(this may not be the exact wording). You can install all the necessary networking tools by selecting each item then selecting details for that item.

The actual TCP/IP files are integral to XP and cannot, by themselves, be uninstalled. If you feel that your implimentation of TCP/IP is flawed/corrupt, you may have no hope but to reinstall Windows XP.

In the WinXP environment TCP/IP cannon be uninstalled period. It has become a core system protocol and will prevent the PC from booting in normal mode if the related sys files are removed. The next best thing in XP is to reset the protocol. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q299357 and review the procedure. I hope this helps.
