Hi:

I just bought a new desktop and used the files and settings transfer wizard to move all of my emails and settings onto my new PC. All of my emails and email settings moved over perfectly but when I try to open my address book it says that it is unable to open and may not be installed correctly! Do I need to try to re transfer it over? How do I re-install my addy book?? Please help!

Thanks!

What email program, Outlook Express, Outlook, Web mail?

Did you save the addy book file, ex. addy.WAB

Hi:

Sorry, I forgot to say... It is for Outlook Express. No I didn't save the addy book file, I just tried to transfer it.

Open OE's address book and check to see if the addy is in on of the other accounts (Shared or Main Identity).

If not,

Is the old 'puter still up and running? If not, are you comfortable with removing the hard drive from the old 'puter?

The old computer is running fine. It is just very full and a laptop... I am ready for a desktop. Can I transfer the addy book over my LAN somehow? (I transfered everything else I have transfered with floppies!! I couldn't figure out how to do it over my LAN). Thanks

Just run a search on *.wab, or use the Export function in OE to send that over your lan or via email, floppy or whatever.; then use the Import function in Outlook Express to import the address book to your account on the new puter.

To Import/Export in OE: File - Import | Export - Address Book.

If you run into a problem, post back to this same thread.

You can e-mail it to yourself if both 'puters are online.

Good luck
