Introduction: A small overview of how this came to be. I was playing a Half-Life mod when the mouse stopped functioning. I exited out and went to reset windows through the start button. I had a ton of stuff running in the background. Windows proceeded to end all the tasks. It was taking forever, so I just hit the power button. After restarting I skipped the chkdsk and got a Registry Error. I restarted again, this time I ran chkdisk it detected many corrupt files in steam, trillian, ventrillo folders. Even when it was complete I still got a registry error.

The Problem: The main problem is I can't access my HD is any way I can think of. I always encounter a Registry_Error classification: “STOP 0x51 ( 0x3, 0x3, 0x0, 0xE11EF000)”. I did not touch my RAM or assault my computer, also my RAM has always worked. I can't run in safe mode, I get the same error. I Used to be able to load all the files to get Windows to start booting but now it just freezes after I select which mode I want to start in. Even Microsoft assumes I should be able to access my drive in Recovery Console, but when I select my drive I get the same error. I finally decided I was willing to start fresh and reformat, but after I get past the Microsoft Disclaimer I get the same Registry Error. I never expected recovery console to flake like this so I don’t have a floppy drive installed.

I appreciate any ideas u might have.

"finally decided I was willing to start fresh and reformat, but after I get past the Microsoft Disclaimer I get the same Registry Error".

You did not say how you went about doing this.

I suggest you try a Repair Reinstall of WinXP using Legitimate WinXP Home CD.

1.Boot with WinXP Home CD in the CD/DVD drive

2.After entering BIOS Setup by pressing the appropriate key for your system, navigate to the Boot Menu and change the Boot Order or Boot Sequence so that CD Device will be the boot device BEFORE HDD. Save the Setup change pressing F10 and exit BIOS Setup.

3. Press a key when prompted on screen to "press any key to Boot from CD"
4. In the "Welcome to Setup screen" choose To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER. DO NOT Choose to Press R to Repair using Recovery Console.

5.Press F8 to accept license
You must have Product Key ready.
6. Press R when Setup prompts to do a Repair the second time.

7. Wait till Reboot prompt.
8. Do not press any key to Boot From CD when prompted the second time.

I did it just as u have said. However, after I press f8 (windows disclaimer). I should get a screen with partitions. I don't get that screen, instead I get the registry error screen.

I have no idea why the registry error is showing up at this stage:(. In that case these are some options you can consider:

1. Use Windows98 or WinME Boot disk and use Fdisk & Format Tools ( Can download if you want from http://www.bootdisk.com/

2. Remove the ailing Hard Disk Drive and install it in another WinXP machine as Slave and use its Disk Management Tool and Format Tool.
