I screwed the pooch and need some help digging out of the mess I'm in. I was tring to uninstall Norton Antivirus because it was giving errors after I upgraded to Windows XP. I couldn't uninstall and was getting "Error 1606. Could not access network location..." The NAV site suggested that I delete 55EB66EFB74A75B4D9E26680831FE059 c:documents and settings\all users\desktop. I did this (of course I didn't save a copy of my registry). When I was able to uninstall Norton...after rebooting. Windows was slow and some apps weren't working. I tried a thousand things and decided to reinstall XP (BAD MOVE). Before it "FINALIZED" I get an error that won't allow me to boot (I can get to the choice but I can't boot). I think this is because I deleted the above file from my registry. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

Format your harddrive and reinstall XP, is what he says.
Registry is something to not mess with, unless you know what you are doing.

yeah, regrettably, i'm a masocist. i don't know why i do these things at 11 o'clock at night. so, you're suggesting that i can reformat my hard drive and reinstall xp. but, i can't seem to get to a prompt. when i try booting into safemode i get a series of directory like lines. this blows! do you have any good sites that can show me how to reformat my hard drive(s)?
