I'm using Win XP Pro integrated with Service Pack 1a. It's a 1 time installation and everything goes in including the service pack. Everytime I start my computer, windows display this message right after windows load : "corrupt registry file has been recovered using a log file... more or less like this". This happens even at the very start, which is the 1st time windows load after installation and it happens everytime I boot my computer up. I've received many replies on this but none seem to work. I've tried disabling startup services I don't need. Formating(not quick format) & reinstalling windows. I have no idea whats wrong and I'm really frustrated about it. Can anyone help me? Thanx in advance.

You say a first time installation. Was this a upgrade or a newly built computer? Clean harddrive with nothing on it? Did you format then install?

In other words what im getting at is if you didnt change the first boot device in bios to cd rom and boot to your xp cd but rather just stuck your xp cd in while you were booted and installed then you didnt do a clean install. You must change the first boot device to cd rom then boot to your xp cd and install windows and then you get the format option to wipe the drive clean and insall xp and then you should not have any registry problems because you will truly have a clean new installation.

I would change first boot device in bios and stick the cd in and when you see the press any key to boot to cd press a key quickly then choose new installation of xp and then you see where do you want to install it and then you will get your format options. I would delete the exixting partition and recreate a new one and format and install.
