Registry Error on first time instal

I have a AMD 2000+ with a IWILL K7S3N mobo,WD 60 gig HD , 512mg PC2700 DDR ram CDR. I have tried to install XP-PRO and just after windows is done loadind there setup drivers ,I get a blue screen. It says it can't install - REGISTRY-ERROR - check to make sure any new hardware is properly installed. - hey its all new -I have checked all the connections and reset the ram- I even tried installing WIN ME- no luck ,What should I do next ?

Remove all unnecessary hardware (sound card, network card etc.), and try reinstalling. If all is ok, replace your cards one by one testing as you go, if it falls over, you know what card/driver is causing the problem..............

I will assume that you are doing a fresh install of XP, not an upgrade. if you are upgrading, ignore the following:
When I get a message like that on a fresh install of XP on a clean Harddrive, I get real suspicious because as of yet you have no Windows register installed to conflict with! I would swap out your memory stick to check it out, bad ram will give you wierd messages like that.
If this HD has had a previous OS on it, I suggest using your WIN98 boot disk or CLEARHDD from Samsung website to totally wipe the disk clean of everything, re-set your partition(s) and start over. XP is real finicky when it runs across old data or old partitions.
