REGEDIT - Won't work using 'RUN'

In trying make a fix inside of my Registry, the system doesn't recognize "REGEDIT" using the RUN fuction. Note: I down-loaded 'Registry Mechanic' last week and it seems to be working well. Any other way to get to the registry ? Thx Steve

if all else fells type this in the run box
regedit.exe
see if that open it up.
