Hi! Everybody,
I have the following problem and hope to get som answers through this forum.
When I type:Regedit in the Run menu,I get a blank window with the title:C:\Windows
System32\regedit.com,instead the of the standard Registry Editor with the normal Registry keys.
Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions!
Matthew.

Hi mebienpesa, FJB, XpUser, hello everyone,
Regedit.com is not a normal Windows file. I have created the file in the past by copying regedit.exe and naming the file regedit.com in order to remove a virus that would not allow regedit.exe to run.
I suggest running an online virus scan
, it certainly won't hurt.The problem you are having is with this key in the registry;
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regedit\shell\open\commandThe Value should be; regedit.exe %1 and yours is set to; regedit.com %1
Since you cannot edit the registry I have created a .reg file that will change the Value. You can download it from here.
After downloading you can right click on the file and select Edit to view the change that will be made when you run it.
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi! fjb,xpuser and mesich,
Thanks for all the excellent info I received from all you guys.
I did what you told me to do fjb and it worked. Thanks!
Mesich,I downloaded your file, checked out the value, which is now:regedit.exe%1,but I am still having the problem, unless I do exactly what fjb told me. I can get to the registry now at least.
Please tell me if I did anything or didn't do something with your suggestion.
Thanks again!
Matthew.
