I recently chewed up some of the user settings in XP, and I now can't get certain programs to work properly. I have a 40gb hard drive, with three partitions. I've copied all the information I want from c: to d:, and now want to re-format partition c:.
I've read how to re-format my drive with XP, but my concern is whether I will re-format only the c: partition, or whether the whole drive will be wiped.....PLEASE help, before my wife does something painful to me!

In the recovery console, if you type "format c:", it will only format the c drive, the d drive would not be affected.
