Reformat on a laptop..

August 4, 2009 at 00:49:59
Specs: Windows Xp
I was trying to reformat a friends laptop. Everything was going fine and then the setup was stuck at 34%. As I waited the two long hours. It was still there. So I took the risk and turned off the laptop. And was going to try again. Now I get to where I can press R, Enter or F3.... As I press enter it says, please wait.... Then "Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid windows CD." I cleaned the CD. I tested to see if it worked. It is the orignal Windows XP disc. I am not sure what I can do. I tried to repair, or what I thought. But it brings up the repair console. Which is out of my league.
Any help would be appriecated.

... what is the model and make numbers of the laptop?

... maybe you have to install "Sata" drivers @ "F6" key prompt during XP setup?

Why aren't you using the hidden partition to restore?
