If your IP is on DHCP which is dynamically given to your system, then reformatting will not affect the IP to be obtained, but if your IP is static, meaning you have manually put it, then you need to note it down for putting it back when the system is reformatted.
To check if it is DHCP or not, go to command prompt "Start>RUN>CMD>OK", in the black window type "IPCONFIG /ALL" there in the list it will tell you that DHCP is enabled or not.
