I just bought a HybriDrive from Fry's to backup data and it came with software that allows you to do that but the software doesn't allow you to remove anything from the drive. When you go into my computer, through this route, you can go into the folder where all of the files are. Well, the problem is this...all these files are in a RIM format (.RIM extension) can anyone give me advice on how I am to be able to determine which files are what? Oh, and this redemption program has it's own naming scheme, so this is why I don't know which files are what.

You don't need to recognize or view rim files. Your recovery software is responsible for that.
For an example some backups will make two files, control.dat and data.dat. Control tracks the data and data is just raw storage. You can not view the contents of either as files but you can go into the backup software and its reads tell you what was backed up
Does your free software show you the backups and the files contained?

Yeah, but it doesn't let me remove them...I've got redundant data on the HD. Thank you for your response.
