Red distorted picture video files

For some odd reason, on some videos files I open in any program (Windows Media Player, Divx, Real..) the entire picture is covered with small red dots and showing the video in the background. It only is on some of the files avi, and mpg, but it's really annoying, any ideas? Thanks.
