Has it always been like this? Or is this a sudden change?

Is your color quality set at highest?
r-click desktop --> properties --> settings --> color quality

This is a sudden change. My colour is set at at the highest. Also when I startup my desktop has my icons showing but a pure white background until my wallpaper shows up.

ecausley, Right click your Desktop, choose Properties, under the Settings tab change the Color Quality from 32 bit ro 16 bit, click Apply/OK. Now go back and change the Color Quality from 16 bit to 32 bit, click Apply/OK. This will rebuild the iconcache.db file and may correct the problem.

If #3 doesn't work out, repeat it but reboot after each change.

I changed the color quality to 16 and it removed the edges!!! When I try to reset back to 32 bit, the edges return, so I am leaving my setting at 16. Thank you sooo much for your help!
