Any suggestions as how to obtain a recovery disk in case the hard drive crashes. I have purchased a new HP Pavilion 7955 with XP os installed and would like to have a disk just in case the drive crashes. A this time, they are not available from HP.

there seem to be a lot of things not available at the moment from hp ...
try partition magic, then clone your c drive to another partition (using ghost or any other cloning program) or even better another hard drive, maybe you have an old one handy.

If you didn't receive the recovery disks then the same files are on a seperate partition on the hard drive save them to a CD and you have them for future use.

Recovery cd for Windows XP on HP will be available starting March this year. Please ask for HP helpline regarding this. Available recovery cds for now are Win98 and Win2000 OS. FYI
