recovery console commands not working

October 3, 2009 at 08:34:34
Specs: Windows XP
I got an error at boot saying that ncobjapi.dll was not found. I followed the directions listed here: http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...

However, the recovery console says that it is unable to create the file.

Does anyone have any idea why or how to fix it?

You can find a place to download that file and where to put it at:

I have the file and I know where to put it. The problem is that I can't boot into Windows, and the recovery console refuses to expand the file.

If you have the file (ncobjapi.dll) on a floppy or CD, use 'copy' to copy it (not expand).

Interesting. Apparently cdroot:\i386\ncobjapi.dl_ is not a compressed file. Copying instead of expanding the file directly from the XP install disc to c:\windows\system32\ncobjapi.dll worked just fine.

Thanks!
