Hi. Out of the blue my usualy stable computer crashed, and I couldn't boot. Well - I enterd et Windows XP loading-screen, and was just about to get to the "Welcome"-screen, when he/she/it decided to reboot. so I tried much and more untill I reinstalled Windows (without formating the HD). Luckely my old profile-folder isn't removed, but I cant enter it (because it's passwordprotected.) Now; I would realy love to get it "open" again! I have old documents and unburned movies and mp3's and A LOT MORE. If anyone have the brains - pleace help me!

Without formatting your HDD you did not loose your profile but like you stated it is "Password Protected" now unless you know the password You will probably not be able to access this "profile"
By using your windows XP cd you can enter the system using the administrative feature that was enabled during install. This will allow you full access to all profiles .that’s were i would start....

Well, yeah. thx, but I've tryed that. I know my password. and I have allso tryed to enter the folder as Admin. still i get the enoying "Access denied:++++++++" message!! does it have anything to do with the fact that the folder answers to a Admin-profile (that do not exist any longer)??

Sign in as the Admin and go to the directory that you want to get into.

Take ownership of the directory and all the files in it. Then you can do whatever you want with those files.
