Hello,

My aunts computer recently crashed and now whenever it tries to boot into Windows XP SP2, it gives a blue screen of death and says the registry is corrupted. I can't even get into safe mode or the console. She didn't get a Windows CD with the computer (or she's lost it), but I think it's backed up on a second drive/partition. But there's no way to boot into said partition. I'm going over tonight to see what I can do, any tips? Any special boot CD's, and ways to recover the registry, or will I have to bring my Windows CD and try a recovery install? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks.

Any Bootable OEM/Retail XP CD will allow one to access the Recovery Console:

I suggest that you determine which make/model the PC is (Dell, HP, etc). Then go to the manufacturer's web site and search for recovery procedures.
