I am attempting to record photo's on a CD to play in my dvd player. Using Nero I can do this but it tells me only the first 99 titles are recorded, and it only shows 99 on the dvd player, however when played back on the computer the original 174 are on the disc
Using Windows movie maker, after dragging and dropping, clicking on 'Save to CD' brings up the message 'Recordable cd drive not detected' Help! I'll play the sympathy card - just out of hospital and can do nothing but sit at this computer!

If you have a legitimate version of XP you could try PhotoStory3 - free download from M$, you just need to go through the validation bit.:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

It records your pictures to CD or DVD for playback as a slideshow on your DVD player, PC or whatever.

Not sure how you are using Nero but have you tried using Nero Express to do it? (I use Sonic)

Just drag and drop the files into it's file pane and then hit Burn.

Check it setting's to make sure you don't have it set to only show 99 files.

Since you are laid up have you considered using PhotoStory (if you already have it or you can get it from MS for free if you don't) to make a movie of your images? You can add music too. Makes viewing them much more interesting. It adds motion (pan and zoom effects).

Save it to your Computer as a Profile for computers - 2 (640x480). It creates a .wmv (Windows Media Video) file.

Use Nero to create a SVCD using the created .wmv file.

I tried a couple of different ways to do it. I saved the file as an .avi file (much larger) and it came out the same as burning the .wmv file.

I guess I have been working on this for about 2.5 hours because there were no replies when I started.

In testing, I used several sets of images and created three SVCDs in the process that I will throw in the trash now since I only used them to test out the process.

It was a good exercise though.

PhotoStory is an excellent freebie from MS.

Bryan

Nero software will automatically make groups of 99 pix till you fill the dvd / cd up.

So if you have 350 pix for an example, you will have 3 x 99 and 1 x 53 groups. I found this out when I made a cd slide show a couple of years ago.

It get's a bit tricky if you want to add music files to the slideshow though but it can be done in Nero's NVE 3.0

Why only 99 pix in each group? I do not know the answer...

Thanks for the help people, I eventually checked Nero for updates, and have successfully burned the discs, using Nero Express. (I thought it was the bottom half they worked on, must have been my brain!) Will try the PhotoStory.

Thanks again;
