Dear.
I had a lot of problem for dual boot of win (8 and XP. So , i decided to reformat the hardisk and install again.
I wanna install Win 98 and XP now. so which drive should i install my XP .Somebody recommend install win 98 on C drive .and Xp in D drive. How about your suggession ?
Will install win 2000 next month.
Thanks !

install win98 first... it doesnt metter where you do it
then install winXP
the main reason is the MBR... when you install winXP it changes the MBR and include wn98, if youll install win98 after XP youll need a boot proggy

Partition your hard drive with fdisk.
Then install 98 then when you come to install win xp it will install its self in the second partition . It will format it fist.
Then when you boot up you will see a screen that lets you chose which OS you want.
You can change the time delay and the default OS by going into system properties then startup and recovery.

Try a boot manager like acronis boot selector. Pretty nice prog which let's you install about 100 operating systems in paralell. And it is a partition manager as well.
You can resize your partitions at any time, choose different formats (fat16, fat32, ntfs) and formatting for linux and other programs is possible as well.
On top of it all it is easy to handle.I am not an employee of that company ;-)

i had try 2 times. for.
I had install win 98 in drive D (Fat 32) and xp in Drive C (NTFS).
But when i boot up my pc. only see the XP . Win 98 choice diappeared..
How come ?

you probably choose to format C.
To start 98 when you put it on the 2nd partition, it always drops its boot file on the first partition (C:). So when you format the C drive, you lost the boot file.Try again and choose ´leave alone´ on install of XP. Otherwise copy the 98 bootfile from the C drive after install of 98 and place it back at the C drive after you installed XP.
You will have to change the boot.ini file too if you choose the last option so you´d better just install fresh without formatting C:Might also try some free recovery software:
www.webattack.com has drive rescue en diskdrive investigator. They´re supposed to be able to rescue data even after a format if I remember correctly).
