Comment:
Computer will display the Windows XP logo at logon and then screen goes blank and the machine re-boots. This cycle continues until manually power off. Not sure why?

This should stop the continuous reboots, but will not cure the cause.
Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup & Recovery > Uncheck Automatically Reboot under System Failure. Click APPLY/OK

Unfortunately I am unable to get intot Windows to make the changes.
The re-boot occurs when the Windows XP logo first appears.

Can you get into Safe Mode? Try tapping the F8 key before the logo appears.
