Reboot failure

When I try to restart XP, It instead shuts down. When I restart, the system log has the following message: Event Type: Warning Event Source: USER32 Event Category: None Event ID: 1073 Date: 3/26/2004 Time: 10:46:12 AM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: *****_********** Description: The attempt to reboot *****-******** failed

Reinfinity, This could be a trojan or virus that is using USER32.DLL or USER32.exe. Run your virus scanner and make sure there is nothing in there. Also, check Windows Update in case you are missing a patch or two. The other possibility could be the blaster worm, although I assume you are patched for that. In any case, scan for viruses and check WInUpdate...;o)
