I am having mic trouble! I have a Realtek HD Audio Input that is not working! I havent damaged it at all I'm guessing its a software problem. Anyways I can't use it in IM programs such as msn and aim. It wont work. I have tried downloading drivers and it still wont work. I also went to sound options in control panel and selected it and turned volume up but still nothing! Anybody please help!

open the 'master volume' panel, click options, properties and change from 'playback' to 'recording'. NOW select microphone and adjust the volume.

p.s. go back to playback and mute the microphone to avoid feedback

There was a MS update a while back that disabled the Realtek chips and when a subsecquent patch followed. I don't know if this has any relivence to your issue.

You could try using system restore. Start> help and support> system restore.

Briefly breaking my silence LOL, I too use Realtek.

If you think your problem was due to the MS Update mentioned in #3 then shout back and I should be able to provide a link to an MS patch for it.

Yep, I'm afraid it was hard to see someone out there who could end up struggling for the sake of a patch which I have to hand.

It's not the big comeback tho LOL.
