I'm trying to save a complete format on this one but i cant find anything. I've ran a couple of differnt virus scans and ran Ad-Aware, Spybot, and windows defender. this thing is just plain slow. takes forever for a "right-click" menu to popup. the task manager doesnt show anything out of the ordinary.

Anyone care to take a look at my Hijackthis log?

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks for the post. i guess i failed to mention that everything is slow. From opening folders and files to opening the browser. i was just referencing the right click menu because that is something that should be instant.

You didn't mention running a virus scan. But even if you did, try an online scan at http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Jeez, after rereading I see you did virus scans. I need to take reading lessons. But anyway, do the recommended online scan. It's the best.

How much free space is on the drive? You need about 25% to operate at a normal speed.

Defrag the unit. That will speed things up. Also find a register defrag program. Defragging the register will speed thing up a great deal.

Open MSCONFIG using the RUN slot and turn off the Startup folder, then restart. That should double your speed right away. (unless you have hardware trouble)

If my suggestions do not speed thing up, then I would say your HDD or your RAM is dying.
