First time I used my new 4 GB cruzer mini out of the box it worked fine. I plugged it into my Dell and put a HURD Live CD ISO file and a ZETA Live CD ISO on the Cruzer. I then pulled it out with out first stopping the USB. The Second time I tried to use this Cruzer I got a message saying that "The Disk in drive I is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" I could not format the USB drive so I ran CHKDSK. C:\>chkdsk i: /f The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives. How do I fix this? I dont need to recover the 2 files. I just want to be able to use this drive.

I never could get usb drives to format unless they had an app from the oem maker.
I had to use linux to format it.

"try this
Right click My Computer
Manage
Open disk management, if it's listed try to format it."Thanx but I tried that. No luck. Cannot format it or run chkdsk on it. Mabey I can format it wirh Linux. I'll try that next.

Well, still no luck. anymore suggestions?
I having a strange problem with another SanDisk Cruzer Mini. The disk checks out ok and has 200MB out of 1G free, but I cannot write to the root of it. This happened once before. The 1st time, I kept getting a msg saying that the disk is full even though there was about 200MB free. Finally I wrote a file to a directory already on the disk. I was supprised it worked, then tried writting to the root again and that worked ok as well. The problem went away for a few weeks. Now it is happening again, only this time it just says " cannot create directory"......Very buggy theses things are?!
Any ideas on that. I was thinking of just removing all the data and refomatting it.

Ok, I'm so dumb. I just remembered that FAT can only supprot so many files on the root and that I must have reached that #. I can't remember what that # is and haven't looked it up yet. That's ok. I did what I said I would. I moved the data to me computer and reformatted the 1G SanDisk as Fat32 which can hold a lot more files and folders.
Still no luck with the 4G SanDisk with the RAW File System. I cannot format it with Linux of Windows.
