Comment:

It is not the same time that I dowload a rar from the web, which is supposed to contain a software package, and it really contains many other rars and, for instance, an nfo file...

I usually discard all of them and try to find the software in another place, but I would like to know if this kind of package is really installable...
thanks

How are we supposed to know, hmmm?

Are they *.r00, *.r01, *.r02 files, for instance? Might it not be a collection of related software programs (like burning software, for example). How about reading that .nfo file before coming to a conclusion? Your post is too general, with a too-general description of such a file.

Try again.

Some people seem to think that putting compressed files inside another compressed file is a good idea and gives more compression. Wrong!
When you get something like that, you can just keep decompressing them until you finish the job. It can sometimes be pretty confusing and difficult to keep things organized. It can be irritating to get one like that, but you should be able to get it done.

Open the NFO file with Notepad and you should find some instructions.

I used to delete the NFO files too. But DON'T. Open them in Notepad. They contain info you need.

The main reason people put a zip file inside another zip file is to spread viruses. Anti Virus programs by default only scan 3 deep. If they have zipped files inside another zip inside a lot of the time they are trying to trick the AntiVirus.

That is also another ploy by Spyware and SPAM Spreaders. Usually the inner most zip file has a password. They trick you into going to another site to sign up for something. They get paid a lot of money every time they send someone to a site.

thanks for every answer, I will investigate the inner rars and the nfo file to see if there are some instructions.

If this is not the case I will discard the files, following your suggestion that it could be malware hidden around

thanks

Unrar the first one and the others, which are the pieces of a split file, will all be joined. I just learned this the other day.
