My computer has recently started completely freezing at random times. Display stops updating, mouse is frozen, keyboard doesn't work, and if a sound was playing, it continues to loop the last fractions of a second at high speed.
I've run RAM tests, updated drivers and all that fun stuff. Event Viewer shows ACPI errors, and the microsoft support page recommends updating BIOS, but the BIOS from the website for my mobo won't take (awdflash claims it's the wrong BIOS).
Can anyone suggest if this is something other than BIOS, and if not, would someone be willing to help me find the correct BIOS file?

i know you said you tried ram tests but this REALLY sounds like ram to me. have you tried different sticks of ram, just to see?
faster, better, MORE!!

Double check that you are selecting the correct BIOS. If you have elemanated the possibility of memory error from you tests, the next bet is overheating.

I found the proper BIOS file with a little more investigation, and that installed without a hitch. I'm using two 128MB RAM sticks and one 256 stick, all PC133. I took the two 128 sticks out last night and ran until right now without a problem, but it just froze. I'm going to swap the 256 out and put the 128s back in; I'll let you know how it goes.
