I am trying to install Norton Antivirus onto my computer, and there is an EXE file that I need to open, to start the setup.. (The file is NAVSETUP.EXE). I double click on the icon, but only the Hourglass comes on for a bit, then nothing happens. I have read this site's archives, and tried everything I saw, but still no remedy. This is not the only instance that this malfunction occured. When I insert the Sims Unleashed Play Disk into my CD drive, and then I click Play Sims in 1024x768, nothing happens... Please help me, I really need to get this antivirus onto my comp. Any other questions, or you need a more in-depth talk about it, feel free to add me on MSN, email c0ld_punK@hotmail.com

While trying to investigate the cause of your problem, you may try the following work-around.

If you can you copy the Contents of the Norton AntiVirus CD on to a Folder (name it NAV)at the root of your Primary Partition [ EX: C:\NAV] you may try to Install it in Safe Mode from your HDD instead of CD?

After copying the entire CD Contenst to C:\NAV, Restart the PC into Safe Mode [ Press F8 during reboot] by selecting that from Startup Menu.

In Safe mode open Explorer [Right click Start>Explore] and go to C:\Nav and then try to click the Navsetup.exe.

Once installed, run Disk Cleanup, Run a full system scan and then also run Antispyware like Adaware, MS Antispyware Beta.

Check your Device Manager to make sure your CD-ROM drive has no error symbols.

Once everything is OK, you may delete the original C:\Nav you created.
Hope this helps

Actually it happens something after you launch this file but you can't see this. Try to use Far manager and launch this file there. Then push Ctrl+O and see what is writing there. Maybe it will help you.
