Random BlueScreens-Different Errors

I keep getting random blue screens with such errors as KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR/ftdisk.sys DISC I/O ERROR, etc/winnt.sys, etc. that happen randomly and I cannot figure out why. Is my hard drive going bad? Maybe bad sectors? Also, how do you reenable scandisk to run after a bad shutdown? I disabled it a long time ago and forgot how to reenable it. TIA
