I'm having problems defragmenting my C drive, i get this message:
"disk defragmentor has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run the volume: ***** (c:)
please run chkdsk /f."chkdsk has finished after i've rebooted, and i 've rebooted a few times in a row (just in case)...i still get the same message. Does anyone know what might be wrong, and how i can solve this?
I ran chkdsk off the winxp cd as well...no luck.
This may or may not be related, but i thought i'd mention it. I got an exclamation saying: Windows Corrupt file
the file or directory c:\documents and settings\all users is corrupt and unreadable. Please run chkdsk utility. Thanks in advance for any advice!

by running chkntfs, i found that by c: is dirty....but i run chkdsk and it finishes and loads win xp pro fine but i still can't defragment (its says that i have a chkdsk scheduled)????
please help!
