RAM support by P-IV 533Mhz

Specs: Windows XP
I have a PC of P-IV 533Mhz and OS is Win XP. My RAM card has been damaged and need to purchase new one. How much capacity RAM is best for maximum speed. Please suggest.

Depends on use.

More ram is generally better.

A P4 533 may not notice much above 512 or so.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Your motherboard is the ultimate decider of how much RAM your machine can handle. At any rate, memory is pretty inexpensive these days & I would suggest just maxing out your machine's capacity.
