I've just built a pc for a friend of mine,it's is an extremely stable system apart from one thing. She recently bought a game which requires a 32mb video card(which it has)for need for speed),the video plays ok at the start but once the game starts,(option screen etc) all the text is really blocky and unreadable. Now the confusing thing is that on boot up the screen shows only 32mb of system memory, but within windows under 'performance'it shows the true 256mb?Which one of these would you be more likely to believe, boot up,or within windows?I'm trying to download bios for it but im getting no download to start from the Taiwan site so far.I think its the A6 bios i need for this KT7A board,Would a bios change resolve any ram recognition issues?

BIOS flash may help if there is a flaw in the RAM slots..
De-static and pull all ram sticks. Swap spots and reseat. Make sure you have them seated properly. Also for the Vid card. I assume it's AGP? Regardless, look in the BIOS and make sure the video is set to AGP or PCI if there is a selection.. Also poor performace may also be on the processor.. If it is a new system make sure the CPU muliplier is set right.

As for you orginal question. I would believe the BIOS Post of Ram being displayed there. Not Windows.
The BIOS may not be using all the ram because it's not seated right. But Windows may dectect it because it's there. If thats the case, a reseat would solve the problem.
