RAM problems

I had 256MB of RAM before and I just took out the 256 card and put in two 512MB cards and now when I look how much RAM I have it says 128. Do I need to activate my RAM or what?

Wow...activate your ram? I don't think that is possible as it is "activated" upon manufacturing. What is the model# of your computer? Do you have a desktop or laptop?
Where are you looking to see how much ram you have?
