I have 504 MB of Ram and the software I want to buy needs 1 GB Ram as minimum What do I do?

You may also want to run the Crucial Memory Scan to see how much and what type you need:

http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

but it's not guaranteed to work on all systems (it failed to identify the type of memory in my Dell Optiplex GX110, but did recognize that it had the maximum 512MB)...
