Can somebody tell me why when i go into my radeon 9600xt graphic card settings it tells me my card is positioned in the PCI slot when it is actually an agp card and in that slot. And also in the Agp settings it is always turned off and the card states that it is AGP x8. Is the card knackered or am i going mad.I have un and re-installed the driver for it.Please help.

In the BIOS of your M/B, there should be a setting PCI/AGP. Make it AGP/PCI and save.
This may solve your problem.

try running their driver cleaner from the ati site...... these cards have to be installed exactly as the manual states. check the bios for the agp apurature size 32 meg 64 meg etc..... also i remember something about setting it to standard vga adapter in the control panel before installation.
