Something is not right here.. Exactly what system do you have? If I am deciphering your description of your computer correctly, you have a Celeron processor in your Dell E-510. Dell did not ship the Celeron in any E-510. The lowest processor in the E-510 is the Pentium 4; then the next one up is the Pentium 4D dual core processo.
How in the heck did you get the Celeron in a E-510.... did you install it?
Either that, or your description of your computer is botched. It would be beneficial to list your computer specs corretcly, as there are no clairvoyants here in the forum; lol....
Also pay attention to the PCI slots in the Dimension E-510, and make certain you buy the correct video card that will fit into the slots.

Clammer is correct, the E-510 doesn't come with a Celeron.

To answer your question, it depends on what socket your board has. Check your mobo's documentation to see what it will support.

The best thing to do is what me and Kitty said, contact your manufacturer or check your documentation.

good luck at installing a graphics card in a 2400 dimension. Your only option would be to go with a PCI graphics card. And I'm not talking PCI-express, but PCI. Frankly, it's not worth the money to install the PCI card. Best to just start from scratch. Low end Dells are limited in what can be upgraded.

AMD Athlonxp 3200+ OC
Asus A7N8x-deluxe-E
ATI AIW 9600pro
2x WD SATA raptors/raid0

Corsair XMS3200

i know this may be off topic but you guys seem to know what your talkiung about and doing. i was wondering if anyof you could help me, i just purchases a ATI RadeonX1300PRO GFX card for my Dell Dimension 4550 pentium 4. it has an AGP slot and the card is AGP. the problem i am getting is when i install the grf card connect it to the power supply when i turn the computer on all i get is a black screen. i have consulted the manual, multiple help sites, and intel's site itself which helped me none, mabe im searching for the wrong thing but it says i need to up date my AGP Driver for the motherboard, i have searched the net and keep ending up in a pit. if some one could give me a site that i could mabe update the Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Processor to AGP Controller -2561 that would be awsome or some advise on what could be wrong and why it is not giveing me a picture on my monitor. the help would be much appreiciated. thanks alot

Dave

Thats the same computer that I have. The motherboard has AGP 4x, that card requires AGP 8x. You need to buy a new motherboard that supports AGP 8x. Or get a card that supports AGP 4x.

Big Boss, I also have the Dimension 2400 with 512 MB RAM. I disabled that crappy onboard video and installed the PCI version of the nVidia GeForce FX 5200. I originally did it for Splinter Cell, which it handled beautifully. Lately, I have really gotten into Tiger Woods 06 (since finally buying a gamepad for my PC. Avoided that for a long time, sticking with the PS2 for games). That game also looks great, but after a round to a round and 1/2, the graphics start to get very sluggish. I am attributing this to a memory leak in the game, chewing up my video memory??? Researching, but haven't quite gotten an answer on that one. In any case, that PC can be upgraded to handle games just fine in my opinion.
