Quick Restore

My computer has been running in slow motion and then lock-up. So I used the quick restore disks but when I try to restor the computer shuts off!! Sometimes it will let me get to disk 3, sometims disk 4 The fan runs constantly. I really need sugestions please ( by the way since I did already try to restore I have nothing at start up)

no, everything shuts off completely. I use norton and it scans continously so I don't think I had a virus. The computer won't stay running long enough to copy all 5 restore disks. Luckily I have a second notebook

Maybe the shutdown is caused by overheating.
I got me a laptop a year ago. I notice that there is not much room under it to exhaust heat out from the bottom. So I prop up the rear of the laptop with a pad of note paper, when using Laptop. They make laptop accessories that do the same thing.
Maybe you could place the laptop on top of a book, not to block fan area. Also CD drives generate heat when used alot.
