Seeing how I have a x64 Processor, is it a good idea to upgrade to a x64 Operating System? Or is there really a point?
Thanks in advance for any input.

- AMD Athlon 64 4200 X2 Dual Core CPU, 2.2GHz
- 1GB DDR667 Memory Module, DDR2
- Onboard GFX (atm)PC2:
-P4 Laptop/512DDR RAM
-Mobility Radeon9000

I personally think it is a waste of money. The actual differences that you would see is nomimal and there are still a lot of 64 bit driver files that are not quite available...althoubh you could probably find the ones neccessary to run what you got....it would be what is available for other softwares and hardware.

Only immediate advantage I can think of is that the system would be able to handle more RAM, if you need it - with 32bit you're limited to about 3.3Gb.

Thank you for your input. I'm not going to take the time to format over to a x64 OS, doesn't really seem worth it, well not at the moment anyway.
Thanks very much.

I have two computers running Win XP Pro x64. One machine has been running it for two plus years, and my new computer since I built it last November 2007.
I have never had any problems getting 64 bit drivers for any of my hardware.
Being able to use 4gigs or more Ram when editing videos is what made my mind up...
