Just a quickie:

How do I set my computer NOT to try to search the contents of my CD/DVD drives upon startup (even if they are empty!!)?

Thanks in advance

This is probably a Setting in your Anti-Virus Software - browse around all the Preferences\Options

Or if you mean at initial boot-up - before Windows starts - then that is set in the Boot Priority section of the BIOS

davehelps,

Are you talking about Windows remembering previous CD folders?

i'd say we're looking for auto insert notification ... to disable do this:

Right click on My Computer.

Go to Hardware/Devices

Go to Device Manager

Open the + on DVD/CD-ROM drives.

Right click on the DVD drive you want to stop autorun.

Under advanced it should say "autoinsert notification" Uncheck that box.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'
