OS: Mandrake 9.0/Win98se
CPU/Ram: Athlon XP1700+/ 1 GB RAM
Comment:

In case my OS, cpu, and Ram did post properly:

Win98SE
Mandrake Linux 9.0 Powerpack Edition
Athlon XP1700+
1 Gigabyte PC133 sdram (2 x 512 MB)

Now for the rest of my hardware, before I start asking questions:

ASRock socket A mobo w/USB2.0, lan, sound, and a full compliment of slots

Soundblaster PCI 128

DLink DFE-530TX+ pci NIC

Cyberdrive 16x12x40x CDRW drive

3.5 inch 1.44 MB floppy drive

5.25 inch 1.2 MB floppy drive

2 x WD 60 GB ata100 hdd

1 x Maxtor 61 GB ata100 hdd

Kodak EZ200 Digital Camera *

Generic 15 inch TFT flat panel monitor

ATI XPert 2000 Pro AGP

HP DeskJet 3820 in USB

Panasonic KX-P1123 DMP on parallel port

Microsoft Internet keyboard

Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical

* This puppy is the problem child! A quirk in Win98se does not permit me to download the pics from the camera with 1 gig of ram, but, it has no problem with 768 MB ram. Go figure.

Everything else in win98se works just fine.

I have a bunch of DOS software (mostly SSI Goldbox AD&D games) that I like, and want to keep.

Questions:

#1: Will I have to triple boot (98se, linux, XP), in order to run these games?

#2: Will the Kodak EZ200 work properly in XP??

#3: Can I install XP Pro on the Third hdd, or do I have to install it on the Second HDD???

Currently, my hdd setup is 2 hdds for win98se, and 1 for linux. I can squeeze 98se down to one hdd, thus leaving 1 hdd dedicated to each OS.

IFF the #1 is NO and #2 is YES, then #3 is irrelevent. Please answer #3 too. :)

If I can do everything from XP Pro (Camera and DOS games {actually, Dungeon Hack and Corridor 7 CD-ROM are the only ones I am really interested in keeping}), then I can see my way clear to upgrading my hdds and maxing out my mobo's ram capacity with 2 x 1 GB DDR266 (PC2100), and not worry about screwing things up (again).

Oh, I do not use onboard sound or LAN.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Charles
