Hello!
Ive searched this forum for similar problems but found nothing.

When trying to run Quake2 under WinXP/Win2000
it appears "shaky" in its apperance, just like if m_filter was set to "0".
If i set cl_maxfps to 150 it gets a little better but still not as smoth as in Win98.

I have turned of verticalsync and the fps are almost as good as in Win98 (200+), if I enable verticalsync the game looks good but the fps gets low (60).

Has anybody else experienced this problem?
It would be fun to change to a newer OS, but if Q2 wont run Ill have to stay with Win98.

My specs are:
Amd 1600+
512 ddr ram
Hercules 3d prophet geforce 1
Latest Detonatordrivers from Nvidia

I would be very happy if someone could help me with this problem.
Thx in advance / Lars

well, acctually you have the greatest machine! AMD 1600+!!. I dont know exactly, but i think that the problem is in the windows xp!, i have the same problem with you. you have the latest driver for nvidia, what about bus driver, chipset driver, or the setting of windows xp, MyComputer>properties>advance>
try to get the best performance.
and then the driver, try to get driver nvidia with refreshrate fix, from guru3d.com or from nvidia.com, try all of version that may have the great performance for your card in windows xp. oh, i almost forgot, try to turn of write combining, in display properties>advance

Hello again, and thanx all for your replys.

Yudi, I tried your settings but unfortunately no luck, Ill try to find the
refreshrate fix you mentined and see.

Rosso, yes it looks good with v-sync on but the fps gets low, dunno why but it acts the same in Win98, only difference is that in Win98 with v-sync off Q2 is so fast and beutiful one could cry :) but in XP it gets plain ugly.

Korrey, I dont think I need a better card for Q2, and please dont belive everything you hear, this card is really good.

Once again thx for your help / Lars
