I had Windows ME O/S, I have installed Windows XP Professional. Works Great. I had some files backup in a .qic format using MSBackup with Windows ME. The backup program included with Windows XP does not recognize .qic. Does any know where I can get a program to restore this file. Thanks

This has always been a trap with Windows.
Backup was never a core issue with Microsoft and was always outsourced (to whoever was cheapest at the time I suppose).
I was caught out years ago going from 3.1 to 95 and had to use the DOS vesion of msbackup from 3.1 to access my data.

If you can't find the file you're after I suggest you take your file (if possible) to someone with an ME machine, extract your files to a new location folder then use WinZip or something universal to recompress them.

I had similar problems with Me - W2k.
I could read my old Me tapes with Veritas' BackupExec 4.5 eval. version.
Hope it'll work on XP, too.

Hello,
I installed Windows XP (Home edition). The MS backup program does not work any more; I can't find any backup program in Win XP Home. Which program can I use to backup to my HP Jetstore 6000 DAT tape?
Thanks,
Jean

Well I had the same problem...
Why doesn't s---ty microsoft think of what it does ?!
If you give a backup tool is your pervious OS, support it in the new version OS!!!!
[ Microsoft Sucks ]
anyway what I did is connecting (ethernet) to a win98 computer and extracting the files remotly.

Hope it helps :-0
