I was surfing the web and suddenly began to receive virus notifications. Symantec appeared to have caught the file so I went on about my business. Then I kept getting an explorer crash message that said something to the effect of "Module.exe will have to close." I finally investigated and found out it was part of a identity/password theft hijack. In the same folder as module.exe was a file that contained ALL of my passwords and credit card info, etc. How worried should I be about this? Do you think the information could have been transmitted already? I deleted the file and was on dial up when this occured. I did a thorough virus scan and deleted all the files. The module.exe thing did, however, crop back up and I went through the same procedure again. I am about to delete my temporary internet files. Thanks for any and all assisstance.

Spyware info.from Microsoft

Maybe check for, and remove SpyWare.
Here
you will find links for detection and removal software.

Here is another that is at most computer stores,
including Office Depot, Office Max:
Spyware X-terminator

Also, be sure to update any software online
after installation, and every 1-2 weeks.

Passwords are just text, very small - so it could easily have been uploaded - even on dialup.

Contact your bank/creditcard company and let them know what happened. Better be safe than sorry.

You can also send that module file to your AntiVirus manufacturer, which may enable them to find out where the info got sent to (if anything got sent).
