hello there, any help with my pob would be extremely appreciated! i kept experiencing keyboard lock ups. so i tred uninstalling & reinstalling my kb driver.. wow, what a wrong move!

i keep getting an error 32 for anything plugged into the ps/2 ports. i didnt mess w/ anything except the driver, which is the standard 101/102 key driver.

so far, i've uninstalled/reinstalled my keyboard driver, nforce 3.13drivers (8rda+ mobo), unplugged the keyboard , plugged it into the ps/2 mouse port (im using a usb mouse, intellimouse explorer 3a) and get this error for either port:

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

microsoft troubleshooters should get shot! all it tells me is to uninstall & reinstall.. no cigar. the keyboard is properly plugged in and works in my startup bios settings & safe mode command prompt screen, but nothing in xp. cant even shut the numlock off, which my mobo defaults to be turned on at bootup..

any input?

*excuse my typos as im stuck w/ the on-screenkyboard..*

In Device Manager, is everything reported as working or is there a yellow exclamation point somewhere?

anything plugged into the ps/2 ports have a yellow exclamation point due to a error 32:

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

i've uninstalle, reinstalled, unplugged & plugged it back in, tinkered with drivers & scanned for hardware changes, uninstalled my mainboard drivers... ugh! horrible! any input wpuld be appreciated beyond belief.. thaks!

Try another keyboard, and disable all devices in device manager, then restart.

Hi,

I've exactly the same problem because I tried to use extra keys on my keyboard. To enable this I tried to install a HID device which blocked my PC totally because my mouse and keyboard stopped working from this moment on.
I got also yellow dot with exclamation mark saying that the driver has been deactivated and nothing could change this.
I tried to reinstall automatically, install another keyboard type, delete and automatically reinstall, select the driver manually, no success.
Only a foreign USB mouse and keyboard allow me to use my computer. I suspect a registry entry or an error in an INF file to inhibit the use of the driver. PLEASE HELP!

Dirk

Ok,

I solved this problem finally by myself: I deleted the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Services/i8042prt (group keyboard port) and deleted the wrong entries (mouse and kbd) in the device manager. Then I restarted and the system reacted correctly and reentered the devices.

C'est ca!
