Hi all,
this post is a lil different than usuall but i was curious to how it works because i am interested in getting it.
the ps2 network adapter,
here are my questions:
1. i was wondering how it hooks up, does it hook up to your computer?
2. what do u need to hook it up?
3. do you need to buy anything else other than the network adapter to get gaming online?
and finally, does it work good, or is there alot of lagging, and is it easy to set it all up?
thanks ,
any help is appreciated,
MTatton

just a lil more details,
i have a ps2,
i have a computer with 1 ethernet card, and a cable modem.
MTatton

well, heres what i can tell you.
1. The network adapter hooks up to a port in the back of your playstation 2, if you remove the cover to this port, you'll see a big empty space for the network adapter(and the other empty space is for a hard drive)
2. no matter what you do you'll need some way to access the internet(you said you have cable) and ethernet wire to run from your modem/router to ur playstation.
3.you'll need enough wire to reach your playstation to your cablemodem(atleast)
i've only really played one game on it and that was when it was brand new, there wasn't really much lag(then again, that was tony hawk 4), but i did just receive a game i'm going to beta test. my friend is betatesting FFXI and he doesn't have many problems.
btw, you have everything you need to play on it, except for the actual network adapter for the ps2.
also, you won't be able to surf the net on your computer and ps2 at the same time unless you get a router/hub/whatever you decided to do.

thank yo so much dakkon10,
so all i will have to do is install the adapter in the back of the ps2, then ill have to get a longer ethernet cable.
this is my other question.
so since i DONT have a router and i only have 1 ethernet card, then to connect the modem to my ps2 ill have to unplugg the ethernet card from my computer(leave the other end in the cable modem, and with the end i unplugged from my computer, plug it into the ps2 adapter.
does this sound right.
and with the start up cd that the adapter copmes with, is it hard to configure everything, and genberally get everthing set up?
thank you greatly,
MTatton

"ill have to unplugg the ethernet card from my computer"
I meant ethernet cable NOT card.
sorry.
MTatton

i figured you meant the cable.
setting it up wasn't too bad. alot of the settings are just automatic, i'd suggest using all of the default settings, becuase i think the network adapter has a way to find out all your internet info, like IP, gateways, and all that mumbo jumbo. only time it might get a lil harrier is with a router, which you souldn't have a prob with =)
