My nephew keeps messing with his computer with stuff he doesn't understand and is causing problems. I don't know what he is doing but this is the third time I've had t sort his computer out. Is there any way I can stop him changing settings and causing damage to his operating system. I don't know how he managed it but whenever My Computer is clikced on an error report opens. It is the same with IE. Can I hide the control panel from him but still be able to access it if I need to at some point?

Try " Fortres 101 V5.0 " This is what we use at our school to block kids from destroying stuff.

You sound like a caring uncle who is willing to help his nephew when needed. However, maybe you ought to tell him that if he doesn't heed your warning and it happens again, he will have to fix it himself!

M$ have a program used by commercial organisations to limit log on activity. It is called GPEDIT.MSC but be careful, it is a very powerful tool and if you click in the wrong place it is the equivalent of locking yourself in the bedroom and throwing the key out the window!(s)
MSKB have lots of info on it.

Speaking of GPEDIT.MSC, it's available only if you have XP Pro.

I did think about GPEDIT.MSC. I ahve used it to remove the standard Windows Messenger becuase it is rubbish. Does anybody know what part to edit.

I have told my nephew that I won't fix it again if he fiddles.

Also with the Fortress, is it possible for him to remove it?

Many thanks everyone for your advice
