Dear group:
When I start my computer I notice a lot of icons in the task bar that indicate that programs are starting when I turn my PC on. I seem to remember that you can uncheck programs that you dont want to start when you turn on your PC. But I forget how to get there.

click start > run > type "msconfig" > click "ok"
A list of all your startup programs will come up. Be sure to verify with at least Google before unchecking something that you're not sure of. Some of them have to start with windows.

Actually all of them can be disabled temporarily without hurting the operating syatem. But you don't want to disable the antivirus or firewall if you are connected to the internet.
