OS: WINXP SP2
CPU/Ram: 512
Product: AMD 64 ATHLON
Comment:

Recently a good majority of my programs are self-closing unexpectedly within 5 minutes.
There are no error messages or other signs after these incidents and it seems to only affect specific programs.

Such are:
-VLC Media Player
-Microsoft Photo Premium
-DVD Burner Apps
-Highly Graphical Games
-Microsoft Word

Any suggestions or theories would be of great help.

I need more details.

Your computer might be infected with a virus that's causing these issues. Or you might have a hardware failure (e.g. faulty ram).

can you post a screenshot of your current running process? you can view them by pressing ctrl + alt + del and go to processes, and take a screenshot

Found some more issues:
- can not system restore
- Some DVD Burner Apps do not close however, the operation of burning a backup does on all apps I have attempted.

Another program affected by the same situation with a logger. It reads ..
