I have an odd ball question and think this is the only place to put it. Basically, I need to find out if there is a way to see two things on a computer, 1. can I go and find out times when the computer was being used and what programs were being used and 2. can I see a list of the latest programs that were put on the computer. I know this is odd but we have a feeling at work that someone has been messing around at night either going through and using the computers for non work things and even using some sort of key stroke software. This has come to our attention because some information got out that shouldnt have and there is no other way this could have happened.

Any help would be appreciated.

Event Viewer will show login and logoff times. Also, make sure only IT Support personnel have Local Admin priviliges. Hopefully, you have good anti-virus/spyware programs installed.

As far as programs that are installed, look in Add/Remove programs.

enable auditing and monitor the security log

make everyone change their passwords and review all workstations/desks that users are not writing down their account information.

This assumes no autologons.

Do not assume the only way the info was released was from someone outside. Someone who does have access may have left the door open by not logging out/revealed account and password.

Update and run your antispyware/antivirus checkers or download rootkit/keyboard logger detector software and run it/them.

Consider you may have someone on the inside releasing this info.
