First I must say this is a great service where dummies like me can access to get help on computer problems. For this I am truly thankful.

I had to painstakingly manually type the Nortons report below. I found a post about screenshot but didn't understand how to attach it or a word document to my post. I am a retired senior, so if any fully detailed help is available on how to attach a jpg image or other file to my post, it would help me greatly in the future.

The Nortons report stated that problems were found with the listed 3 items and they were of medium level concern. I selected Nortons repair facility to repair the 3 errors but it said it was unable to fix them.
My computer was given to me by my brother with Windows XP Professional installed but he never left me the CD and he and his wife are now in the Far East on a 3-year assignment. Please tell me what these errors mean and how they can be fixed and stop appearing?

Item 1 - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\0700\Intel32\DotNetInstaller32.exe" cannot access a necessary file "mscoree.dll"

Item 2 - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\0701\Intel32\DotNetInstaller32.exe" cannot access a necessary file "mscoree.dll"

Item 3 - C:\WINDOWS32\MAPISRVR.exe" cannot access a necessary file "gapi32.dll"

Go to the windows update and scan pc for updates.

Look for the microsoft.net framework and download that update.

That should take care of the errors.

While you are there go ahead and download any other updates.

Thanks Robbie.
I downloaded the microsoft.net framework update, which elimanated the errors. However, the update took up 32MB of my hard disk space and I don't have a very large hard drive.

Is there any other way to get rid off the errors or can I leave the errors as is? In other words will the existence of these errors result in any other more serious problems on my computer?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but can I locate a copies of the missing "mscoree.dll" and "gapi32.dll" files somewhere to fix the errors? Or am I looking at the situation from a computer-illiterate point of view?

Thanks for any responses to this.
